Peter Andre believes he and Emily MacDonagh have a great relationship because she isn't a celebrity.
The 40-year-old singer has been dating the 23-year-old medical student for 11 months and he thinks the secret to their happiness is the fact she isn't working in the same industry as him.
Speaking to omg! Yahoo at the launch of Robinsons Fruit Shoot campaign, he said: "It's good to be with someone outside of the industry. It's so nice to be with someone who's just different. You know when they say that opposites attract? I never understood what that meant. But now I know it doesn't mean looks, it could mean in a situation like this. We're so opposite in what we do but yet we connect."
Although Emily is training to be a doctor she does regularly appear in Pete's reality TV show 'My Life'.
The handsome star loves having her in his programme but he insists she doesn't do it to be famous but just because she is part of his everyday life which is what the series documents.
Pete - who has two children, Junior, seven, and Princess Tiaamii, five, with ex-wife Katie Price - added: "I know we have the reality show. But the reality show is the only show I do where my friends and family can be with me and be part of my work ... She gets recognised before me now. We were at an airport recently and people came up and said, 'We only recognised Pete because we saw you!' She's great. She's awesome."
