The 65-year-old musician and 43-year-old jewellery designer - who he famously paid £25 million to six years ago in a record-breaking divorce battle - are back together and news that they were set to wed circulated after Orianne seemingly declared the couple were "determined" to tie the knot, again, last week.

However, Phil - who has sons Nicholas, 14, and Matthew, 11 with Orianne - explained: "Orianne did an interview in Switzerland and that got back translated from German and she didn't actually say it.

But teased: "It's not impossible, it just hasn't been discussed. We are still enjoying living in a house together and changing light bulbs."

And Orianne, who hails from Switzerland, recalled: "I said 'you never know what the future is going to hold.' I never said, 'Yeah, we are going to get married.' It was like a mistranslation."

Phil and Orianne married in her native country in 1999 but split in 2006 and divorced two years later.

Despite their previous split, the beauty insisted she is meant to be with the Genesis rocker - who is also a father to actress Joely, 43, musician Simon, 39, and model Lily, 26.

During an interview with the couple, she told People: "We are back together, we are very happy and time will tell as far as the future - who knows?"

And Phil gushed: "Yes we are back together. It wasn't something we wanted to make a song a dance about. But obviously when you have children, there's two ways you can go. You can go the nasty way or you can go the nice way, and we always went the nice way ... and we realized we missed each other."

Phil was married to first wife Andrea Bertorelli from 1975 to 1980, and second wife Jill Tavelman from 1984 to 1996.
