'Game of Thrones' leads the nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards with 19.

The hit fantasy drama series scored the most nods when the shortlist was announced today, with 'Fargo' and 'American Horror Story: Coven' following, with 18 and 17 nominations respectively.

'Game of Thrones' nominations include recognition in the Drama Series category, which it will contest with 'Breaking Bad', 'Downton Abbey', 'House of Cards', 'Mad Men' and 'True Detective', and Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress for Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey respectively.

'Fargo' and 'American Horror Story: Coven' will face-off in the miniseries category, along with 'Luther', 'Bonnie & Clyde', 'Treme' and 'The White Queen'.

Elsewhere, the dramatic actor category is likely to be hotly contested, with 'Breaking Bad' star Bryan Cranston contesting the prize with Jeff Daniels ('The Newsroom'), Kevin Spacey ('House of Cards'), Jon Hamm ('Mad Men'), Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey (both 'True Detective).

Julia Louis-Dreyfus will be hoping to win her third consecutive comedy actress prize, though the 'Veep' star faces competition from Lena Dunham ('Girls'), Edie Falco ('Nurse Jackie'), Melissa McCarthy ('Mike & Molly'), Amy Poehler ('Parks & Recreation') and Taylor Schilling ('Orange is the New Black').

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on August 25 on NBC.
