The 41-year-old actress and her 50-year-old co-star are grateful for the support the popular American drama series has received and they are both keen to make a follow up to the first instalment of the show, which was given the Outstanding Limited Series at the 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday (17.09.17).

Speaking about the future of the programme, which was based on the book of the same name penned by Liane Moriarty, to E! News, Nicole said: "I mean, we want to do it.

"We love these women. And it's just trying to move pieces and it's complicated."

To which Reese - who portrayed Madeline Mackenzie in the programme and was also an executive producer on the show - added: "What she said."

Nicole, who picked up the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie award at the star-studded ceremony, "loves" that their audience are keen for the show to continue.

She continued: "We want to do it and we love that people want us to do it."

But the blonde-haired beauty is surprised by the success of the programme, and she has revealed her and her cast mates never thought the show would "stretch this far".

She added: "I've said this before, but the power of television is extraordinary. Being in people's lives with these stories and these issues, and have them connecting the way that they have, I think it sort of floored all of us because we thought it would have a certain place in the world. We didn't think that it would stretch this far."

Fellow co-star Laura Dern, who played the role of Renata Klein, also picked up a gong at the bash, which saw her honoured with the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie award.

Although the 'Big Little Lies' director Jean-Marc Vallée has previously admitted to being against making series two, he has changed his mind and thinks it would be "great to reunite the time".

Speaking at the event, he said: "I'm just like the audience and like these girls and everyone else ... It'd be great to reunite the team and to do it. Are we going to be able to do it, altogether? I wish. We'll see."
