Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe's life choices are "based on being in recovery".

The 49-year-old actor was known for his partying and womanising as a member of the Hollywood 'Brat Pack' which shot to fame in 1985 and consisted of him, Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald among others.

His notoriety peaked when a sex tape of him leaked in 1988 and afterwards he entered rehab at the age of 26.

Lowe has been sober ever since and claims rehab changed his outlook on the world and helped him improve his focus and approach to life.

He told Manhattan magazine: "All my life choices since [rehab] are based on being in recovery. I learned to focus on what's real rather than imagined; on not letting feelings drive the bus; on being courageous and honest; on putting my total effort into something and not worrying about the result. My whole world view was infused."

Lowe was catapulted to the spotlight as Sodapop Curtis in Francis Ford Coppola's 'The Outsiders' but denies being popular when he was in his adolescence.

Talking about friends Sean Penn and Charlie Sheen - who he attended Santa Monica High School in Malibu with - he explained: "We were not the popular guys, the surfers and beach boys; we were these quirky kids with offbeat interests."
