The 'Iron Man' actor took to Instagram to inform his fans that they should be vigilant if approached by people claiming to be seeking charity donations on his behalf and he insisted that all of his charitable fundraising will be done in a public setting.

He wrote: "Dearest fans (Ducklings Honey Bunnies, or otherwise), it has come to my attention that one or more scam artists have taken to impersonating me online and asking some of you via private message or chat for 'donations' for various 'causes'.

"Just wanted to let you all know that if you encounter someone on a chat platform claiming to be me, they are lying.

"I will never ever communicate via private chat platforms, and I would never ask individual fans for money for any reason. Any communication from me will originate from my public, verified social media pages, and all fundraising is done via broad, public campaigns.

"I am constantly humbled by the incredible love, support, and generosity of our little community. Some want to take advantage of that, so let's have each other's backs. Love you all, and stay safe... (sic)."

Robert, 52, did not go into any detail about the scammers but fans replied in the comments section thanking him for looking out for them.

Meanwhile, Robert recently confirmed that Gwyneth Paltrow and Jon Favreau will appear in 'Avengers: Infinity War'.

The 44-year-old actress has previously starred opposite the actor as his on-screen love interest Pepper Potts in all three 'Iron Man' movies, and also had a cameo in the first 'Avengers' but was absent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until appearing at the end of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'.

Favreau appeared in the three 'Iron Man' movies - as well as directing the first two - as Happy Hogan and had a supporting role in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'.

And earlier this week, Downey - who plays Iron Man and his alter ego Tony Stark - took to Instagram to confirm the two actors will be appearing in the upcoming MCU movie.

The post showed the three actors together with the caption: "Infinity Trinity... #infinitywar and street crad @jimmy_rich represent @marvelstudios and @therealstanlee... (sic)"

'Avengers: Infinity War' will see the Avengers superhero team joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight the powerful intergalactic villain Thanos.
