The 'Maggie May' singer and his model-and-presenter wife - who have sons Alistair, 10, and Aiden, five, together - decided to reaffirm their commitment to one another in a secret ceremony when they moved into a new house in Essex, East England, in order to rid the abode of negative energy.

Penny revealed: "I wanted the priest to bless the house because I felt there was a lot of history and old spirits there: we wanted to say thank you to the old and welcome in the new. So we walked into the garden, under the largest oak tree there, and we said our vows again, just Rod, myself and the priest. It was beautiful."

And the couple also confirmed they plan to renew their vows again next year, when they celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary.

Rod, 71, was knighted in Queen Elizabeth's birthday honours earlier this year and his 45-year-old wife - who is now known as Lady Stewart - joked the couple's new titles have allowed her to bring back her old childhood nickname.

She told Britain's HELLO! magazine: "I used to get called Lady Penelope at school because the other kids thought I spoke nicely.

"After the news [of Rod's knighthood] broke, the driver that takes us into London would say to me, 'Evening, me Lady,' and I would reply jokingly, 'London please, Parker.' "

While Rod and Penny's recent vow renewal was an intimate moment, the 'Do You Think I'm Sexy?' hitmaker - who has six other children from previous relationships - previously revealed their plans for next year involve a "re-run" of their original wedding ceremony at a medieval monastery in Portofino, Italy.

He said: "We are going to do what we did 10 years ago and go down to Italy with all the same friends and do it all over again. Just have a re-run."
