The 40-year-old pop star presents the Magic Radio Breakfast Show in the UK, which requires him to wake up at 4.30am, and Ronan believes his unsociable working hours give him the perfect excuse to spend more time in the gym to get back his chiselled abs.

He explained: "I'm up at four but I finish at ten - I want to use the time to go to the gym every day, and get back in the best shape, that's my goal.

"I'm only 40, that's young enough to train hard, work hard."

Ronan has reunited with Boyzone for the band's re-launch and he's claimed that despite their advancing years, the group - which also includes Keith Duffy, Michael Graham and Shane Lynch - look as good as ever.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: "I think we are in our prime as a band, we're looking better than we have in years, or maybe ever!"

Despite this, Ronan has insisted the boys have no plans to revisit some of their energetic dance moves of yesteryear.

He said: "Look, we're not kids any more. I don't know about dancing - we'll see how it goes."

The Irish star also revealed the group's comeback will see them adopt a totally "new sound".

Looking forward to Boyzone's return, Ronan explained: "Boyzone have taken a whole new direction, it's a fresh new sound, there's no covers on it.

"Shane has been working so hard, there has been a lot of Shane influence rather than Boyzone. He's from an urban background with his style and taste in music, and that's been a huge influence on this record and our music.

"The album will be out either this year or next, we're trying to get it finished - it's been really enjoyable."
