The Rolling Stones rocker has admitted he's been a very hands-on father since the arrival of his little girls Gracie Jane and Alice Rose three weeks ago but, although he's battling with extreme sleep deprivation, he is enjoying fatherhood.

He explained: "I'm the burper, walker, nappy changer and I'm still trying to work out when I can get to sleep in between all that. I have played the guitar to them and when I get round to it I'll do some drawings. At the moment, I'm just soaking up every moment we have."

The 69-year-old star's bandmate Sir Mick Jagger, 72, was one of the first people to see the babies.

Ronnie said: "Mick popped in on the third day. He couldn't wait to see them - I put one in each arm and took a photo."

Ronnie and his wife Sally, whom he married in 2012, welcomed the twins into the world two days before the guitarist's 69th birthday and emotions were certainly running high the moment they first locked eyes on their little ones.

Sally, 38, told HELLO! magazine: "Ronnie cut the cords and we just held our babies and looked at their little faces.

"We both cried. You are just so happy and emotional, the tears are just there. Ronnie is so completely committed to being a dad, helping me, looking after us all.

"I've never been a mother before so all I know is this. And this is pretty good so far."

Ronnie also has son Jesse, 39, with his first wife the late Krissy Findlay, and Leah, 37 and Tyrone, 32, with second wife Jo Wood as well as adopted son Jamie, 41.
