Russell Brand wants a date with Cheryl Cole.
The long-haired lothario - who recently split from magazine editor Jemima Khan - has his sights set on the newly-single 'Call My Name' singer and sent her some free tickets to his stand-up show in London in the hopes of wooing the brunette beauty with his comedic talent.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Russell asked staff to send Cheryl two tickets for tonight's (15.10.13) 'Messiah Complex' show in London. He even said he hopes she will bring her mum, Joan, along too, because he thinks she's the key to winning Cheryl over.
"Russell reckons if she enjoys the show enough, she might consider going out on a date with him. It isn't just a quick fling he's looking for either. Like most men in the country, he's always fancied her."
The British comedian - who has battled sex and drug addictions in the past - was no doubt thrilled to discover Cheryl ended her relationship with US dancer Tre Holloway this summer due to their incompatible work schedules.
Meanwhile, Russell - who split from ex-wife Katy Perry in Decemeber 2011 after 14 months of marriage - surprised fans by announcing he was single during one of his latest stage shows, despite recently claiming he was "eschewing all others" for his new relationship with Jemima.
The 39-year-old star confessed, "I'm currently single", before going on to smooch a number of fans seated in the front row.
