The 'Omen' singer has shed a whopping 42 pounds in the last few months and he is delighted with his new slender figure, which he showed off at the Grammy Awards at The Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday night (15.02.16).

Sam insists the main reason he's slimmed down so much is that he's drastically reduced the amount of calories he consumes, and junk food is definitely off the menu.

When asked on the red carpet at the Grammys - at which he was presenting a prize - what the reason for his weight loss, he said: "I'm just not eating like a pig any more. That's basically it!"

Sam also shared some details on how his new album is coming along but admits since he wrapped his tour he's been focusing on enjoying some quality time with his loved ones rather than concentrating on work.

Sam - whose debut LP 'In The Lonely Hour' helped earn him four Grammys in 2015 - shared: "I'm writing new music but I'm also taking some time out to enjoy myself and see my family. I'm trying to get back to normal so that I'm in a position where I can write again."

Revealing which performance he was most looking forward to on the night, he said: "I'm looking to seeing the David Bowie tribute. And I can't wait to get on stage and present an award!"

Sam has lost so much weight by following a diet devised by Prince Charles' ex-assistant Amelia Freer in her book 'Eat. Nourish. Glow'.

The pop star no longer eats gluten, dairy or refined sugar and does regular exercise including weight training and yoga.
