Sarah Michelle Gellar would star in a 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' movie.

The actress played titular heroine Buffy Summers in Joss Whedon's classic TV show between 1997 and 2003, and she would consider reprising her vampire-killing role on the big screen depending on the script.

She admitted: "If there was ever the right story, we would do it."

However, the 36-year-old actress points out that 'Buffy' was originally conceived as a movie - which featured Kristy Swanson in the lead role - in 1992 but flopped at the box office, and she worries that the show's complex storylines wouldn't translate well into a two-hour film.

She explained to E! News: "Joss and I always talk about [a movie]. But the thing with 'Buffy' is that 'Buffy' was a movie, and it ultimately didn't work as a film. And I mean, we had such miles to overcome when we were trying to do a TV show based on a movie. And one of the reasons is that the story works better over time."

'Buffy' made stars of Sarah, Alyson Hannigan and David Boreanaz in the 1990s and led the way for blood-sucking movies and TV shows such as 'Twilight' and 'The Vampire Diaries'.

After taking a long break from the small screen following 'Buffy', Sarah attempted to make a TV comeback in 2011's 'Ringer', but the drama was axed after just one season.

The blonde beauty - who has two children, Charlotte, three, and 10-month-old Rocky, with husband Freddie Prinze Jr. - will next star in sitcom 'The Crazy Ones' with Robin Williams.
