The 36-year-old singer has teamed up with the girl group's former star for his first ever duet 'I Could Be', which is included on his upcoming album 'Right Here'.

The track has been unveiled today (09.09.15) and Shane hopes Girls Aloud's supporters join the fans of his former group Westlife and make the track a hit.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I don't what the reaction to the song is going to be yet but I think the whole Westllife and Girls Aloud connection could be very interesting - from a fan base perspective. I hope all the fans get behind it.

"But here's the funny thing you don't know what people are going to think about it until they hear it! I think it's the best song I've done as a solo artist lyrically, melodically, and there's a bit of tempo on it."

When Shane decided he wanted a female artist to join him on 'I Could Be', Nadine was the name at the top of his list.

The 'Me and the Moon' singer got to know Nadine, 30, while they were both members of their former bands - who achieved 19 number one singles between them - and was delighted when she agreed to sing with him because she's such a "fun" girl and so talented.

He added: "I said to the label we're gonna have to find someone serious to sing this song, because it's a very high song for the girl so we had to get somebody who could nail it live. It's my first duet so it's obviously very important to me, I wanted an amazing singer and Nadine ticked that box straight away. I've known her for years because of Girls Aloud, she's a really nice girl and obviously you want to work with someone who you're going to be comfortable with you don't want someone who is an absolute nightmare to work with - not that I know of anyone! You want it to be fun and we had great fun in the studio, when we were listening to each other singing the song we knew it was special. It was great to do it the old fashioned way as well. Sometimes artists don't even meet each other until the video shoot which is a load of s**t! We had such a laugh in the studio."

Shane's album 'Right Here' is released on September 25 and can be pre-ordered now from iTunes and Amazon.
