The retired Australian cricket legend - the former fiancée of Elizabeth Hurley - thinks an extra-terrestrial race experimented on monkeys to make mankind and says the fact our closest ape cousins are not extinct is proof of his theory.

Speaking to retired British dancer Bonnie Lythgoe about his theory on the Aussie version of reality TV show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!', he said: "If we've evolved from monkeys, then why haven't those ones evolved? Because I'm saying: Aliens. We started from aliens ... Whatever planet they're on out there, they decided that they were going to start some more life here on Earth and study us. Maybe they turned a few monkeys into humans and said, 'Yeah, it works.' "

When Bonnie questioned his theory, he added: "Look at those pyramids, Bonnie. You couldn't do them. You couldn't pull those huge bits of brick and make it perfectly symmetrical ... couldn't do it. So who did it? Aliens."

Since entering the jungle Down Under, Warne has been sharing a lot with his campmates including one of the reasons why he and Hurley split up.

The 46-year-old sportsman spilled: "It's hard on your new relationship when you're really good friends with the exes.

"Elizabeth was really good friends with Hugh, who is like her best friend. When I used to go back to Australia, if she wasn't leaving London, he'd come and spend the weekend at the house.

"I went, 'I tell you what. Tell him to come when I'm there.' I told her, 'I knew Hugh before I knew you, so just tell him to come over.' But she said, 'Oh no, he feels uncomfortable.' "
