Sir Patrick Stewart is set to lend his voice to the poop emoji in 'The Emoji Movie'.

The 76-year-old actor - who is known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' - has admitted he has been cast in the upcoming movie, which will see him provide the vocals to the eyed faeces in the upcoming film, which is set for release in August this year.

Sony Pictures announced the news of the movie legends role on social media, they tweeted: " He ain't no So excited to announce the distinguished @SirPatStew as Poop in the #EmojiMovie - in theaters August 4th! #SonyAnimationDay (sic)."

Patrick will be joined by Maya Rudolph, who will play the role as Smiler, whilst James Corden is set to star as Hi-Five.

They continued to write: "Up next: @MayaRudolph will dazzle you with her picture perfect smile as Smiler in #EmojiMovie! #SonyAnimationDay

" .@JenCoolidge and @JakeTAustin also join #EmojiMovie as Mary Meh (Gene's mom) and Alex, alongside @NotTJMiller, @ilazer, and @JKCorden! (sic)."

However, Patrick is yet to comment on his unusual character and the casting for the project.

And this isn't Patrick's first role in an animated project as he has recently provided the voice over in comedy series 'Family guy', 'American Dad!' as well as 'The Simpsons'.
