Tristan Evans pretended to be a member of One Direction.

The Vamps drummer Evans, tried to impress an old lady by boasting about his pop prowess - but claimed he was part of the One Direction group instead of his own.

He said: "I told an old person that I was in One Direction. I was just trying to impress the granny at the dinner table. It went down well!"

And it seems Tristan isn't the only member of the group who is happy to deceive people.

His bandmate Connor Ball said: "I'm good at lying. I've got it down to a tee - it's a trait I'd like to take further."

Meanwhile, the group admitted they wouldn't want their parents to accompany them on tour because they are very different on the road.

Brad Simpson said: "[They couldn't come on] the whole tour. Maybe just one journey. This is like, 'tour me', not the innocent Brad from home!"

James McVey added: "I don't mind if my family comes to the shows, but if they were on the tour bus, that would be a little bit too much."

Connor told Top of the Pops magazine: "Not the whole tour - that would be bad. Maybe a few days. My parents are not really that strict."

However, Tristan's reluctance to invite his family on the road stems from the fact they party harder than he can.

He said: "I think my dad would be more party animal-ish than me and my mum would join in. We would have to set down rules for them."
