Vanessa Paradis would support her daughter if she wanted a showbiz career.

Vanessa Paradis wouldn't stand in the way of her teenage daughter if she wanted to pursue a showbiz career.

The singer-and-actress shot to fame in her native France aged just 14 with hit song 'Joe Le Taxi' and though she'd prefer her to live a "normal" life, she couldn't imagine denying her own 14-year-old daughter Lily-Rose of her dreams should she choose to go down the same route.

Quizzed whether she would let the teen follow in her footsteps, Vanessa said: "Answering that question is complicated. I would love for her to be able to live a normal life... But at the same time, if the desire to become an artist is as real and strong as it was for me when I was her age, I think it would be a shame to say no."

As well as Lily-Rose, the 41-year-old star also has an 11-year-old son, Jack, with her ex-partner Johnny Depp, who she split from in 2012.

In spite of their amicable separation, Vanessa was reluctant to discuss her ex and his new fiancée Amber Heard, who is 13 years his junior.

She said: "I understand people's curiosity, but don't count on me to feed it. I've always refused to discuss my private life. I think there's nothing worth preserving more."

Vanessa - who is rumoured to be dating French singer Benjamin Biolay - is a firm believer in growing old gracefully and says the thought of going under the knife terrifies her.

She told Swiss TV show 'Le Matin': "I don't judge women who do that, but it scares me. I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The most important thing is to feel comfortable in your own skin."
