The 42-year-old fashion designer first met the hunky retired soccer star, 41, at Manchester United's grounds at a party in the 90s and the brunette beauty has admitted that their first encounter is "hazy", but she knew it was "love at first sight".

In a letter penned to her former self for the October edition of British Vogue magazine, she shared: "Yes, love at first sight does exist. It will happen to you in the Manchester United players' lounge - although you will get a little drunk, so exact details are hazy.

"While the other football players stand at the bar drinking with their mates, you will see David standing aside with his family. (He's not even in the first team at this stage - you are the famous one.)

"And he has such a cute smile. You, too, are close to your family, and you will think how similar he feels to you. He's going to ask for your number. (He still has the London-to-Manchester plane ticket on which you wrote it.)"

The couple married in 1999 and now have four children together - sons Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, Cruz, 11, and five-year-old daughter Harper.

David echoed his wife's views on their relationship, as he said previously that as soon as he saw her in the Spice Girls music video for 'Say You'll Be There' in 1996 he knew she was "perfection".

He said previously: "That's the girl for me and I'm going to get her! She's my idea of perfection. I knew that if she wanted me, we would be together forever."

Elsewhere in the letter, Victoria revealed how she has never felt comfortable in her own skin, and even recalled feeling "plump" when she was younger.

She wrote: "You have never properly fitted in, although you are sharing your Surrey school digs with really nice girls. You have bad acne.

"You think the Principal has put you at the back of the end-of-year show (in a humiliatingly bright purple Lycra leotard) because you are too plump to go at the front. (This may or may not be true.)"
