The 52-year-old star announced on Wednesday (15.06.16) that she was leaving the programme and it has now been claimed she decided to leave after show producers told her she would no longer be a main housewife, but just a friend of the show on the upcoming season.

Sources told 'Entertainment Tonight' that Yolanda then told bosses she would only stay if she could remain a main housewife, which they declined.

However, the insider stressed there is no ill feeling between Yolanda, network Bravo or the show's production team.

When she announced her departure from the show on Instagram, Yolanda - whose diagnosis with Lyme disease, much to the scepticism of her castmates, was documented in the last season of the programme - admitted she had hoped to have a better ending to her time on the fly-on-the-wall series.

She wrote: " I would have loved a more graceful exit then "Season 6" but sometimes we don't get to control the ending of the chapters in our life.............. I am leaving what's over without denying its past importance in my life. I believe that every exit is an new entry and with that in mind I say goodbye to my @Bravotv Family as I continue to focus on a my recovery, my children and bring back the privacy within our Home (sic)"

Yolanda - who is the mother of models Gigi and Bella Hadid, and their brother Anwar - went on to thank her fans for their "unwavering" support and admitted she is feeling excited about what the future holds.

She added: "Thank you to all the fans for your love and unwavering support these past 4 years. I am grateful for the housewife experience and all it has taught me. I'am excited about this CHOICE and look forward to the next chapter of my life #RHOBH #TimeToSayGoodbye with#Gratitude @evolutionusa @bravoandy @bravotv #WWHL (sic)"
