What roles would you like to play in the future

I'd love to do Tosca. They are at different stages as a voice, as the voice grows. Right now I'm still young so I'd love to do roles when I'm able to move my voice and use the agility of my voice down the road.

How did you first get involved with opera?

My Mom is a singer so I was born with it. I was born with msuic surrounding me. She is from Spain and studied there. She was singing in Barcelona when my Dad was stationed in Spain with the US airforce. They got married and she decided to start a family but his passion is music so they were able to do concerts togetehr so my siblings and I were raised with this love of music. Thats where I got my start, having it there at all times.

What advice would you give to budding sopranos?

It's a big task. There are many soprans out there but I think, know what you want, know who you are. Find a teacher, people that you really trust that under your voice because there's so much criticism out there, so many obstacles to overcome. It's important to remember what it is about you that is different that is special, while you're working on your weaknesses. Keep your eye on your strengths, have faith in yourself and work as hard as you can at your craft.

Do you think it is a difficult field to break into?

Yes it is, but a lot of it is chance. Most of it is hard work, you have to put the work in but the other part of it is sometimes just being in the right place at right time but holding strong to your morals and your beliefs is important.

What are your plans for after the show finishes in March

I will be preparing for Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro Countess Almaviva, back in the states with Opera Delaware, that'll be my first countess perfromance and i'll be doing Strauss' Four Last Songs and Mozart's Don Giovanni in 2010.

It sounds like you're going to be very busy!

I'm going to have to try and find time to be with my husband. We just got married in November. I'm excited to be wokring in Delaware becuase it's very close to my home in Philadelphia so we'll get to spend more time together.
