Copenhagens Kind of Girl specialise in bass heavy synth-pop doused in the sweet addictive vocal melodies of lead singer Sissel. Lonely in A Modern Way marks the debut album from a band bursting with ideas on combining rock, electro and atmospheric elements to write addictive and inspiring pop songs.
FemaleFirst managed to get a few minutes with the charismatic lead singer to find out how it feels teetering on the brink of world domination.
It was a bit of a struggle, its always like that in the studio when you work with very concentrated music, you just have to stick to the ideas you have. But its fun as well, I love it though, I love writing material and hearing it come to life. But it is always hard work, so its a struggle in a good way.
I think it you can hear the British and Swedish traditions as well as influences from American singer-songwriters, and that New York Rufus Wainwright kind of sound. I think that you can tell that we listen to different people but its very song-based but still the production is a bit different.
