Natasha Bedingfield is having the time of her life at the moment; with a hit US tour, a new album and a sparkler on her finger (which we were warned not to ask about) is there anything else she wants to do before she becomes a full-time wifey?
I caught up with the stunning songstrees to chat about life as a pop star, her new music and what itâs like being tuned into a computer game.
Hi Natasha, How are you?
Iâm great thanks! Iâve been on a very long tour in the States so itâs good to be back and here a local accent!
So where has been your favourite place to play on your tour?
I have done the house Of Blues which is really funky and more of a club vibe and more intimate. Iâm also on the New Kids On The Block tour which is all sold-out arenas where their fans are all out for a fun night out and thatâs a lot of fun to do.
How have American audiences received you in comparison to the British ones?
They have been great. Songs like Unwritten have been made their own and they sing along to every word. But there is nothing like home and I have a house here and itâs great to come back especially when Iâve been living on a bus!
So can we expect any more new music from you soon?
Yeah Iâm writing at the moment. I donât know any exact date yet; when I have all the songs then it will be time but Iâm not going to put loads of pressure on it as I have a load of other things going on right now. I always have that bug to write and release new stuff but I just got engaged so Iâm all excited about wedding plans!
You have a couple of new songs on the Boogie Superstar game; how did that come about?
Yes, I have three! I have done quite a few EA Games; From Russia With Love, Bond Girl and a song on The Sims so I love work arrangements that come out of natural relationships and they told me about this game and I thought it was wicked because itâs aimed at young girls and most computer games are for boys really and girls end up playing them. It would be nice to see a game that is made just for girls and boys end up playing them!
Many people are going to live singing along to your songs with the new game; but whatâs your favourite song to cover?
Hummâ¦. I like Yesterday but The Beatles but I also love Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol too and Iâve actually done a cover of that one!
We know, we love it too! When you write your own songs, is there a certain process that you go through?
Song writing is what I love doing the most out of anything I do and itâs very creative and I love just sitting in a room and just starting to jam. I just start humming and the songs just end up coming out!
Youâve achieved a lot so far, but what else is there on your musical to-do list?
I have lots of dreams but I donât go around telling everyone. Even with music I knew I wanted to do this and set my heart on it and started writing songs but I didnât go around telling everyone so they were quite surprised that I ended up in this position.
Very humble. So who do you look up to within the music industry?
I love listening to old stuff like Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin and Carole King and Joni Mitchell.
In todayâs music scene I look up to Coldplay, Snow Patrol and I think Missy Elliot can do no wrong; sheâs amazing.
Whatâs in your cd player at the moment?
On my iPod I made a play list and Iâm really into Guns nâ Roses and Rage Against the Machine when Iâm working out. I also love Adeleâs album and Feist.
Wow, so quite a varied interest⦠I like it! So what has been the happiest day of your life?
Thatâs kinda hard because there has been lots of little days along the way. One that stands out was when my brother was born when I was seven.
We ask everyone we interview to come up with a question for the next person we interview and Anastasia wants to know; âWho was your first kiss?â
Let me try and remember; it wasnât a famous person Iâll tell you that!
I think my first kiss was in the playground when I was about 7...hahaha!
I canât remember who he was but I think he has nice lips!
Nice lips⦠always good! So can you come up with a question for the next person I interview?
What is your type of guy?
