More than 11 million women will be a World Cup widow this summer - as their blokes retire to the sofa with World Cup fever.

Research revealed 47 per cent of the nation's wives and girlfriends are counting down the hours until the tournament kicks off knowing they will have to fend for themselves, receive little attention from their partners and be left to carry out all the household chores.

One in five women said they will not watch one minute of the competition while a quarter said they were expecting to fall out with their other half over the amount of football he will watch.

Despite this Nicola T is looking forward to the competition and all the girly stuff she intends to do while her other half is glued to the TV.

1. The World Cup is just around the corner so how much are you looking forward to it?

Loads. I love the buzz, we will be in a family bar on holiday watching it.

2. How much do you see your fella during the World Cup, is he stuck to the TV?

He will be stuck to the T.V, but its the perfect opportunity for me to do girly stuff.

3. Obviously you are left with all the housework and so on so how do you peel him away from the TV to give you a hand?

Simon will do his share before the match, he is well trained! Actually we are buying the Indesit washing machine as it has a 45min wash and dry.

It normally take three hours and he gets really impatient but with this he can help the pile up (having a baby means lots of washing!) and still watch lots of footie

4. It's fair to say that many women are neglected during the World Cup have you got any tips to keep your relationship on track?

He should buy a gift for each match he wants to watch or watch the game as a family.

5. While we are talking about football how do rate England's chances in South Africa?

Ooh thats a hard one, fingers crossed!

6. Obviously being the partner of a football player comes with media attention and the label WAG so how comfortable are you with that label?

I’m fine with it, it doesn’t mean anything really and people that think WAGS just shop are stupid!(all girls love to shop)

7. Do you think that WAGS are unfairly treated by the media?

Most of us have our own business or are mums!

8. Away from football you do have your own clothing line so can you tell me about that?

Deliciouscouture.com is something I love to do when i have time

9. You were in the Big Brother house earlier in the year how was that experience?

Incredibly boring, but I caught up with lots of sleep . ( I’ve got a baby so it was well needed)

10. How difficult was it being away from your family?

It was horrible, I had to pretend they  didn’t exist to get through the day!

11. Talking of family you have a little girl who is almost 18 months so how are you finding motherhood?

It’s hard but worth every second. Poppy is the cutest little monster in the world. I couldn’t  imagine life without her.

12. How does being a mother impact on your career decisions?

A lot, I have turned down loads of work because I don’t want to leave Poppy.

13. Finally what's next for you over the summer and the rest of 2010?

Spending the next month with Poppy and Simon relaxing because it’s been a tough year for us.

FemaleFirst Helen Earnshaw.
