The Cheeky Girls chat about their new tv show

You are appearing on Livings new show Living With, what was it like having a television crew following you around and watching your every move? Could you act naturally or did you have to be on your best behaviour?
We acted as normal as possible to be honest we are very comfortable in front of the camera and we didnt want to put barriers up by saying you can/cant say that we just wanted to be normal so that people could see how we are and what our personalities are like.
The show follows your home life and looks at getting to know the real Gabriela and Monica. What are your typical day-to-day routines?
Every single day is completely different from the others. Living with the cheeky girls is exactly what it says on the tin, you see us working, performing on stage, going to photo shoots, I [Gabriela] also went on holiday to Rome with my boyfriend then we had a trip to Romania where we did a TV show and had a photo shoot for FHM which was very glamorous.
We have a little niece who is eight years old and not only is she the new cheeky girl but she is a little Cheeky Diva shes so demanding, we have to take her bowling, to the amusement parks, and of course to go shopping. We went to Asda and bought about 75 pieces of clothing and before she left she wanted a mobile phone, but not just any one, it had to be a pink one and we spent ages finding her one. So definitely no children on the horizon for me at the moment!
Gabriela, youre recently engaged, how did it feel when Lembit proposed and did you say yes right away?
Almost straight away, I was really shocked to be honest so it took a while to register. He proposed at midnight and during the day before we were going around Rome visiting places and having lovely food and receiving presents from him but he was very fidgety all day and seemed very stressed and emotional and at the time I thought that it might just be because he wasnt enjoying the holiday!
Then at midnight he went on one knee and proposed and I was really shocked that it had happened but even though he had been trying to give me hints all day I had completely missed them, I didnt really memorise anything and so when he asked, I paused for a little while and then said yes.
Any wedding plans as yet?
None as yet because I cant get married for a year as my grandmother passed away as it is tradition in my country that when someone passes away you cant do a big celebration like a wedding for one year, so we will have to wait.
Not only that but we have really big projects at the moment so it isnt really the right time for us, so nothing until 2009.
Monica, you and your sister seem inseparable, how are you going to cope with her marriage?
I am spending more time separately now, we obviously spend a lot of time together as we work and travel together but we have one or two times a week when Gabriela leaves me alone and I am left all by myself to do my own thing which in a way is not bad. I dont go out I will stay in watching television and eating lots of ice cream, or I will go on a night out with friends. Its not so bad being on my own, I think its good for me to do our own thing.
Does spending so much time together put any strain on your relationship as twins? Do you ever want to just get away from each other?
It might sound strange but we never have these feelings like I have had enough of my sister and I just want to be on my own. We just enjoy each others company so much and whenever we have a free day and go up to London for a day out we like to go in the same places and same restaurants and like to shop in the same shops, we understand each other so well that even in our free time we like to spend it together. Not only are we sisters but we are best friends.
Are you planning to release any new songs and what can we expect from you in the future?
We do want to record more songs so that we can make a new album to go on sale in the shops at the end of the summer and that is one of our new projects.
After the success of The Cheeky Song, did you have lots of men constantly groping you?
Not really. The cheeky song was release and after one year the song became a classic and the thing with the song; the rhythm, the lyrics, the tune and everything was more about ourselves and our song rather than touching our bums.
What seemed to happen was that the song came on in nightclubs and people were touching each others bums instead, it was bum-touching mania!
You both have figures that women would kill for, but as you know, there is a big issue with people in the UK trying to be a size zero which in turn is damaging their health: What are your views on the size zero debate?
We definitely dont agree with it because we were there back in 2004. Our record label went bust and we both were really depressed and developed anorexia and we went to a size zero. No one can be a natural size zero, it just doesnt exist, I would think a healthy size is a US four or a UK eight.
Of course it all depends on your height and bone structure but we wouldnt recommend trying to be a size zero because we have been there and it destroys you; we lost our lust for life, we didnt want to do anything because we didnt want to go anywhere where there was food, people who want to be a size zero seem to avoid finding themselves in any situation where there is food because they dont want people to see them eating.
You wake up hungry and go to bed hungry and you just look at food in the wrong way and your social life goes right out of the window, youre not confident. We were only confident on stage and the rest of the time we were at rock bottom.
You have both had cosmetic surgery in the past, do you want anything else doing?
Our teeth, but I think it might be a little bit too early now and I wouldnt want false teeth at our age. But in the future (10-15 years) I think we will have it!
