I enjoyed this film thoroughly. Colin Firth is back to his Mr Darcy brooding best, and the young actor who plays his son, Ben Barnes is a beautiful young man who leaves the door open for a new generation of women to enjoy a period drama. You can't go wrong with Kristin Scott-Thomas and Jessica Biel - who I didn't recognise from The Illusionist really is as glamourous as an old world screen siren.
I can't praise this film highly enough. The audience I was with laughted so heartily I'll have to see it again to catch some of the dialogue - and the ending had some people (alright, me) cheering. It's a line from the film - but it really did fire me up with the 'thrill of escape'.
Also - it's the sort of film you can share with your mother or daughter (teenage, though - it does have adult themes).
I'd rate it much higher than the reviewer - top marks!
