This study appears to consider the 3-13 minutes are actual sex, not foreplay. One "trick" I've come up with that's made sex better for both me and my wife is to extend the foreplay period. And, to intersperse foreplay with sex. Sex is, for me, physically exhausting, so we have sex for 5 minutes, foreplay for 5, sex for 5...rinse and repeat.
I don't know about it from a woman's perspective, but 13 minutes of actual sex is waaayyyy beyond my stamina.
