Back to: The Dangers Of Lash Extensions

by Candy Beauty 9 October 2010

I am a professional eyelash technician, and would like to comment on the above article. It is unfortunate that some clients experience pain, discomfort, or permanent shedding of their eyelashes. This is due to inexperienced, unqualified lash technicians, and not the procedure itself. There are unfortunately, many people in the industry who believe they can immediately start practicing and charging for the service, simply by attending a short course, observing a friend, or just by watching You Tube. This is dangerous and many clients are unaware until they experience pain post procedure. Lash extensions do not cause your natural lashes to fall out prematurely so long as you have them done properly by a professional and EXPERIENCED technician. By "properly", I mean, having a set that is sits comfortably on your natural lashes, of a reasonable length and weight so it doesn't overburden your natural lashes. Over-extended lashes with substandard glue and performed by an inexperienced technician are usually the culprits for many unfortunate client's experiences. The PR professional who had her lashes done in Thailand simply because it's cheap is needless to say, very irresponsible and self inflicted. Thailand is a country with lax regulations in respect of personal safety and therefore the practices in one country is not a reflection on every country. There are numerous highly professional and experienced lash technicians in the industry and I would advise seeking recommedation or ask to see their portfolio.
