i do think trevor nelson did a good job, actually. paul gambaccini brought his usual disdainful arrogance to the occasion, and i noticed on several occasions nelson seemed palpably taken aback by what he was saying. gambaccini was glib, irreverent and on occasion plain nasty, and he kept talking over trevor nelson. nelson is guilty of not confronting gambaccini on air, yes, but that would hardly have been professional. i have complained to the bbc about gambaccini, questioned the decision to give him the job, and said that steve wright would have been a more empathetic and approppriate choice.
