Back to: Duane Eddy- 'Road Trip'
Since I got this CD a couple of days ago I have not stopped playing it: it is so much better than anything he's ever done before - and that is in no way to denigrate any of his work - I love it all. Road Trip is the music to an imaginary film, a record to dream by, nostalgia on a CD...a lovely, bitter-sweet sound in places, yet not depressing. I guess the word is melancholy...tristesse. But that is forgetting the lighter material, including my favourite Mexborough Ferry Boat Halt (brilliant) and the stunning opener Attack of the Duck Billed Platypus and the grungy Primeval. But it will be a CD I will continue to play when I am in a reflective mood. It's soul music, I'd even almost call it spiritual (at least in the modern use of the term 'spirituality'. It's...we'll you are just going to have to listen...no: BUY it!
