Back to: Britain's Missing Top Model: Is Deaf Disabled Enough?

by Debra Barton 25 July 2008

This program shows an increasing distinction between visible and invisible disability, with Sophie in particular having strong feelings that the girls with invisible disabilities (Jessica,Kellie and Lilli)being pointless in the context of the competition. To me that showed a lack of understanding of the nature of disability as a whole more than anything else. I find it very hard and somewhat saddening to watch as she seems to have the opinion that if your not in a wheelchair or have a limb missing that you dont have the right to call your self disabled and shouldnt be in the competition.
