An Education is the story of a teenage girl’s coming-of-age set in an early 1960s Britain on the cusp of the strait-laced, post-war period and the free-spirited decade to come.

A bright schoolgirl is torn between studying for a place at Oxford and the rather more exciting alternative offered to her by a charismatic older man.

Directed by award-winning Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig (Italian for Beginners, Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself) and from a screenplay by Nick Hornby (About a Boy), An Education was adapted from a memoir by journalist Lynn Barber.

Starring Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard, Dominic Cooper, Rosamund Pike and Emma Thompson An Education is released in cinemas on October 30th.
