Russell Watson, the tenor who practically invented the classical crossover genre is ready to stun the world again with ‘La Voce’, out November 22nd and because we're getting into the Christmas Spirit early, we've got five copies to give away to FemaleFirst readers.
Stronger, more driven and powerful, his renditions of Pino Donaggio’s Io Che Non Vivo (Senza Te), Mario Lanza’s Arrivederci Roma and Parla Piu Piano (the theme from The Godfather) are as impressive as you’d expect from a man singing with, literally, a new lease of life after overcoming two life-threatening brain tumours.
In 2008, when the Salford born tenor finished radiotherapy for the pituitary tumor that saw him undergoing emergency surgery, he decided to embark on a return to music. He soon found that his treatment had given him not just a fresh outlook on the world, but a whole new, deeper, richer voice. “The tumour could have been growing for 10-15 years in my nasal cavity, so when I had it cut out I went from a V8 to a V12!”
Set for release a decade after his No. 1, Classical Brit bagging 2000 debut ‘The Voice’, ‘La Voce’ is Watson’s ninth – and most personal – album. “I’ve truly given my heart and soul to this record,” he says, and you can most certainly hear it.
‘La Voce’ is set to be one of the defining albums of 2010 so, to get your hands on a copy, just answer the question below;
Where was Russell born? A) Glasgow
B) Salford
C) Norfolk
