The Special Edition DVD has 2 hours of new extras focusing on the Movie, the Music and the Musical. Set in the North East, Billy Elliot is a funny, heart-warming and feel-good celebration of one young boy's dreams.
This original story captured the hearts and minds of the world when the movie was released in September 2000 making its young star, Jamie Bell, a household name and winner of a British Academy Best Actor Award. Nominated for 3 Oscars and 13 Bafta awards this poignant film broke box office records across the world.

There are 3 extended versions of selected scenes which include the boxing scene, the scene in the supermarket with Dad and Billy’s brother, Tony and the arrival at The Royal Ballet School. The DVD also shows some of the scenes Stephen Daldry was not able to fit into the original film which are called Billy’s Story, Tony’s Story and Dad’s Story.The ‘Making of the Movie’ feature has interviews with Jamie Bell, Julie Walters, Director - Stephen Daldry, Writer - Lee Hall and the film’s producers Jon Finn and Greg Brenman. Music - Stephen Daldry discusses each piece of music featured in the movie and the reasons why those pieces of music were chosen. Some of the bands included on the soundtrack are T-Rex, The Clash and The Jam.
Footage from the auditions for BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL which began previewing on March 31 and will have its premiere on May 12 in London’s Victoria Palace. For the last two years a nationwide search has been carried out to search for boys and girls who would be able to play Billy and his friends Michael and Debbie.
There is also a feature of the three boys who were selected to play Billy - James Lomas, Liam Mower and George Maguire. Here we see them going through the audition process, attending the Billy Elliot Saturday School in Leeds and also relaxing at home with their families.
Sir Elton John has written the music for the Musical and in December 2004, he appeared with James, Liam and George on the Royal Variety Show, where they performed ‘Electricity’, one of the numbers from the Musical.
