Sony BMG are set to release the eagerly awaited original soundtrack which accompanies BBC ONE’s hit series Ashes To Ashes on 17th March 2008.

After the huge success of 2006’s Life on Mars, DCI Gene Hunt and colleagues recently returned to our screens in Ashes To Ashes, a police drama set in the 1980’s. Taking the title from another David Bowie track, the authentic soundtrack is key to setting the scene in this time travelling drama.

Ashes to Ashes Original Soundtrack features the programme’s title track, David Bowie’s Ashes To Ashes, which was his fastest selling single at that time, reaching number 1 in the UK charts when it was released in 1980. Other tracks on the album include one of Duran Duran’s most popular songs ‘Girls On Film’, ‘Love Action’ from synthpop legends The Human League, The Clash’s rabble rousing punk version of ‘I Fought The Law’ and The Ruts ‘Staring At The Rude Boys’, which was recently covered by hardcore band Gallows. As far from a cheesy 80’s pop album as you can get, Ashes To Ashes Original Soundtrack features some of the best-loved alternative tracks from the beginning of the decade as well as the title theme and snippets of dialogue from the series.

Ashes To Ashes Original Soundtrack is destined to be a hit with both fans of the show and music lovers, released 17th March 2008 by Sony BMG.
