The soothing hum of a lawnmower, pub garden chatter, waves breaking on a beach, a cricket ball hitting a bat and drinks being poured over ice are the sounds of summer 2008, according to research conducted by Pimm’s. Just thinking about them gives us a warm, fuzzy feeling, proving that we don’t need a weatherman to tell us summer has finally arrived. All we have to do is pin back our ears and listen….
It’s not just sounds that put a spring in our step, summer songs play a huge part in putting the sunshine into our lives. The survey revealed that 63 per cent of Brits feel uplifted by their favourite summer song, “California Dreaming” by the Mamas and The Papas, came in as the ultimate summer tune, with 90s favourite pop/rap tune “Summertime” also popular for putting a smile on our faces.
Another extremely popular sound is ice cubes clinking in a long cold glass. The lovely Pimm’s people have also given us some fantastic prizes to enhance your summer.
