catapulted her to international solo stardom, with the release on 29 September 2017 of Heaven On Earth – 30th Anniversary, a super deluxe 4 vinyl/1CD Box setBelinda also releases a brand new album Wilder Shores on the same date.   The celebrations continue on 1 October when Belinda Carlisle embarks on a 9-date Heaven On Earth 30th Anniversary UK concert tour.

The Heaven On Earth – 30th Anniversary box set, released by the Demon Music Group,  presents the hit-filled album on 4 heavyweight vinyl LPs plus a CD,  bringing together the original studio album, the single versions of the 6 hits on the album plus live versions taken from the 1988 Belinda Live! Concert with additional remixes.  The CD features the original album, plus three brand new tracks including a new acoustic version of Heaven Is A Place On Earth, new song Why, and a cover of the Carpenters’ classic Superstar.

The new version of Heaven Is A Place On Earth is also featured on Wilder Shores, a new album released on the same date.   Wilder Shores features chanting linked into Belinda’s Kundalini Yoga Practice.   Describing Wilder Shores Belinda commented “Chanting was one of the tools I used to help me in the early days of my sobriety.  It’s a proven science and there is no question that it is a powerful method for dealing with everyday life.  It’s not just music on the album, it’s a science that requires an element in the voice called the Naad which is almost a transference of energy.  That being said, I am a pop singer and Wilder Shores is still a pop album with the same structure of verse, bridge and chorus as my previous albums but it is done with repetitive chanting.”

With a career spanning more than three decades, Heaven on Earth, Belinda’s second solo album proved to be her breakthrough internationally and overall her most successful album. The single Heaven Is A Place on Earth topped the charts around the world.  The album peaked at #4 in The UK Album Chart, and was certified triple Platinum.   Featuring 4 UK Top 40 singles Heaven Is A Place on Earth, I Get Weak, Circle In The Sand and World Without You.

It’s 35 years since the punk-influenced Californian teenager sat on the kerb of a Hollywood sidewalk drinking beers with her gal pals and set about forming a band.  Three years later, the Go-Go’s not only had the number one album in America with Beauty And The Beat which included the smash hits We Got The Beat and Our Lips Are Sealed, but had broken down the door for every female guitar band that followed.   As Q magazine noted, “Before riot grrrl, before ‘girl power’, before ladette culture had a name, there was the Go-Go’s.”   Rolling Stone went even further calling them, “the world’s best female rock band.”

The Go-Go’s sold seven million albums and counted Kurt Cobain and British acts like The Specials and Madness amongst their biggest fans.  But by 1985 Carlisle was ready for the fresh challenge of a solo career.   Her Gold certified solo album debut, Belinda, was released in 1986 spawning the hit single, Mad About You, before her second album,   Heaven On Earth, elevated her to the next level as one of the most successful female artists of the decade.

The single Heaven Is A Place On Earth is one of those career records that transcends its place in time.  A number one hit in both the US and the UK (where it toppled Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes’ The Time Of My Life and Pet Shop Boys' Always On My Mind respectively) it reached the top spot in 8 different countries, earning Belinda Carlisle a prestigious Grammy nomination for Best Pop Female Vocalist in the esteemed company of Whitney Houston, Carly Simon, Suzanne Vega and Barbra Streisand.

Written by Rick Nowels and Ellen Shipley, the song drew stellar contributions to every aspect of its conception, from the iconic pop art video directed by Oscar winning actress Diane Keaton, to the backing vocals supplied by Michelle Phillips of Sixties folk rock legends The Mamas And The Papas, and multi-award winning songwriter Diane Warren, with 80s electro maestro Thomas ‘Hyperactive’ Dolby guesting on keyboards.

The album, Heaven On Earth, went platinum on both sides of the Atlantic, cementing Carlisle's place in the pop firmament, a position she maintains to this day.
