The Queen and James Bond

The Queen and James Bond

Tuesday 25th September, London: An eclectic mix of celebrities were spotted reading a sneak peek of the new free Time Out London magazine on the tube yesterday. The Queen, David Beckham, Mick Jagger and Daniel Craig were seen leafing through the London entertainment guide on the Jubilee line, which is launching as a free magazine today.

But not all is what it seems as the Royals and showbiz stars are in fact lookalikes, and the snaps were created by the award-winning artist Alison Jackson, known for her lookalike photographs of celebrities. The stars were also spotted travelling around London by bus and black cab.

The photographs were taken to celebrate the first edition of Time Out London’s new, free distribution magazine, replacing the previous paid-for weekly title The new magazine has been redesigned and focuses on giving Londoners highlights of London’s events and attractions, integrating more fully to its digital offerings such as their comprehensive website and mobile apps.  The magazine carries the same mix of informative and entertaining editorial coverage of events in London, concentrating on Film, Music, Theatre, Art, Shopping and Food & Drink. Many of the listings previously in the magazine are to be found online at the timeout website and the magazine will focus on discovery and inspiration for readers..

Tim Arthur, Editor-in-Chief, Time Out stated, “We wanted to have some fun to launch the first issue. Alison Jackson is a friend of Time Out, and we love her satirical take on celebrity culture. We thought it would be nice to reunite The Queen and James Bond after they stole the show at the Olympics opening ceremony, now they're so close they must be looking for fun things to do together and Time Out's the place if you want to find a great night out. And besides these famous faces are just like any other Londoner at heart – and they all need to keep up-to-date with the latest things to do in London with Time Out”.  Readers can pick up a copy this morning outside London Underground stations, and at other major London transport intersections within Zones 1 and 2. Additional distribution of the magazine will be made to key cultural institutions, arts venues, bars, cafes, boutiques and shops that are not only frequented by current Time Out readers but anyone who wants to make the most of the city. This distribution extension will make the magazine available throughout the week across the capital. Within 3 months Time Out expects to be distributing over 300,000 free copies every week.
Only Time Out London magazine is to go free.  All other Time Out magazines across the globe will continue to operate within their cities under their current model.
