Orlando Baxter by Oscar Obregon

My brand of humour is very laid back and personal, so audiences can expect to hear a lot of interesting and funny stories about my life.

Which comedians have been your biggest influence?

Dave Chappelle is my biggest influence, he's my favourite comedian. I really admire his style and his ability to deliver a joke.

What random things make you laugh in everyday life?

I love it when people trip in public and try to act like it didn't happen. It cracks me up every time.

Please tell us about your best and worst moment on stage so far.

My best moment on stage was when I made my television debut on the show Gotham Live. My worst moment happened early in my career when I did so poorly on this one show that the host came back on stage, and said "I've been doing this for a long time but this is the first time I ever received text from audience members saying get this comic off the stage." Now I'm not sure if the host was joking or not but I was crushed for a while after that show.

Do you still get nervous when you do a gig?

Well it all depends on the situation, if it's a regular show and I've done the club before I'm not nervous at all but if it's for a competition or an audition then I get a little nervous.

Why is Edinburgh Fringe Festival such a great platform for comedians?

It's a great opportunity to get seen by people in the industry and network with amazing comedians from all over the world.

Who are you looking forward to seeing as an audience member?

I'm looking forward to seeing Liz Miele, Maureen Langan, and Loyiso Gola.

What is your advice to aspiring comedians?

Don't steal other people's jokes, work hard, and be really funny.

What is the oddest heckle you've ever received?

A couple brought a baby to a comedy show, and in the middle of my set the baby starts crying uncontrollably. And although I made fun of the parents, there was nothing I could say to shut that baby up.

What is next for you?

More shows in Europe & the US and hopefully I'll be making my late night TV debut in America
