At the beginning of the DVD there are some comments about Sarah Millican by those who are attending the screening that evening and one man says; 'at the end of a bad day- you put her on and you instantly feel better.' I think this sums her and her DVDs up perfectly. At times when I have felt down, I have found myself turning to her DVDs as a way to pull myself out of a slump.

Sarah Millican Home Bird Live

I don't know if it's because I am a Geordie, a woman and often in need of a good cheer up but Millican strikes a chord with me and my sense of humour.

I did wonder what she might bring to the table for Home Bird, and the best way I can sum it up is that it's a reflection of a new chapter in her life. In this DVD she focuses on her transition from living on her own to living with a man and taking on the extra responsibilities of being a new home owner and cohabitor.

I couldn't help but feel that she was putting even more of herself out there with the content on this recording. She seemed vulnerable at several points in the show, something which was very different and humbling, given that she generally only mentions in passing about sensitive subjects, such as her divorce. I think that this is the most honest and courageous of her works yet.

With every new DVD that my favourite comedians release, if I have not had chance to see the live show- I do wonder whether the talent will able to deliver the same quality as their last. I know as a writer myself how difficult it is to come up with new material. With Sarah Millican I find that I enjoy each of her DVDs but for different reasons; each one is ideal for a different mood. This DVD is of the same quality as her last and she entertains, shocks and gathers the laughs by the bagful with every story.

The thing I admire most about her is her uncensored attitude to life and conversation. She says what others think but don't have the confidence to say out loud and strips back the ideal of feminine mystery.

She is the perfect role model for women- as a thirty something- who has complete confidence in herself and her direction in life- she is an inspiration to all females who are looking for someone to aspire to.

I really hope to see one of her live shows in future to absorb, in real time her positive energy and influence.
