West End Heroes

West End Heroes

THE DOMINION THEATRE is set to host WEST END HEROES on SUNDAY 23 JUNE AT 7.30PM. The gala concert, in aid of the charity HELP FOR HEROES, will celebrate the UK’s finest military musicians and the greatest West End shows and show-stopping songs, supported by a 50 piece orchestra from the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.

This unique event will also feature: RAF Squadronaires Big Band, Royal Marines Corp of Drums, We Will Rock You, War Horse, Spamalot, 42nd Street, and Some Like it Hip Hop, with guest appearances from Joe McElderry, Daniel Boys, The Soldiers, Woman The Band (Mazz and Gina Murray and Emma Kershaw), and many more to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Forming the centerpiece of the Gala concert will be The Central Band of the Royal Air Force. Widely regarded as one of the finest military bands in the United Kingdom, the band has a worldwide reputation for musical excellence. The band is most closely associated with its performances on the concert platform and its many recordings of contemporary and light music. Music has been a part of the Royal Air Force since 1912, when the Service existed as the Royal Flying Corps. In 1918 the Royal Air Force was formed and by 1920 The Central Band of the Royal Air Force was established.
Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and four Personnel Recovery Centres across the UK. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
“Help for Heroes is all about ‘doing your bit’ and West End Heroes is a wonderful example of people coming together to raise money for a worthwhile cause. Because of events like this and people like you raising money, we are able to provide practical, direct support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries as a result of their service. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated; the war may be ending, but for these brave wounded the battle will have only just begun. We need to be there to support them for life, and that support needs to be the best. I would like to say thank you for this and every other fund raising event that it inspires.”
Bryn Parry, CEO and Co-Founder of Help for Heroes
