Sam Gold (Eisenberg) is a naive young man from an Orthodox Brooklyn community reluctantly following the path his strict family has chosen. He’s awaiting an arranged marriage and studying to become a Rabbi.

Sam’s bad boy neighbour, Yosef (Bartha) senses Sam's resistance and propositions him to transport 'medicine for rich people’ for his boss Jackie (Abeckaser), an Israeli gangster.

Sam quickly demonstrates his business skills and Jackie instantly takes him under his wing. Newly exposed to the exciting and gritty drug-fuelled clubs of Manhattan and Amsterdam, Sam spirals out of control, experimenting with ecstasy and falling for Jackie’s girlfriend Rachel (Graynor).

As the business grows, Sam's double life begins to rip his family apart and the community becomes suspicious of his illegal activities.

To say that this is a true life story about drug smuggling this movie is surprisingly boring - I'm sorry but it absolutely bored me to death.

The plot crawls along at a snail's pace and the audience just never feels involved in the story of latches onto the characters.

These are gangsters and cancers who spend their life breaking the law - and yet seem surprised when it all goes wrong - sadly there's not much to like about any of them.

Sadly the script has that 'seen it all before' feel to it and it just lack originality and really a spark of life.

This type pf crime drama should have had that feel of menace and danger around it - but you never felt like they were drug smuggling just going on holiday.

It just lacked that tension and excitement of the crime drama and it is left feeling a little fault and really very dull

Holy Rollers is out on DVD & Blu-Ray now
