Prometheus was one of the movies that I was really looking forward to this summer and yet it is the movie that has disappointed me the most in 2012 so far.

Prometheus follows a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe.

There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

From an aesthetic point of view the movie is just stunning and if you didn't see it on the big screen then you really did miss a treat.

Scott has crafted a world that is so vivid and so real that you can't help but marvel at him as a filmmaker.

So yes from a technical and visual perspective this movie more than delivers - it is one of the best looking movies to grace the big screen so far this year.

The first hour of so of the movie really is great as Elizabeth Shaw and Charlie Holloway (played by Rapace and Marshall-Green) lead a team of scientists to discover the origins of mankind.

It is a tension filled beginning as the team find themselves on another world but Scott fails to hold that tension to the end of the movie and it comes to a rather disappointing conclusion.

The movie doesn't really give you any of the answers that you hoped you would get at the beginning of the movie and there is a fell of been there, done that feeling as the credits roll.

There are some great performances from a very talented cast and no more so than Rapace and Michael Fassbender.

Rapace plays a woman of great courage and strength - it is no real surprise that she has been compared to Ripley but she is a completed different character.

Fassbender is just great in every scene as the scheming android David - you never really know where his true loyalties lie.

I wouldn't deter anyone from seeing this movie and on the whole did like it but I wasn't raving about it as I expected to. There was just that 'something' missing.
