The Eagle

The Eagle

Discover uncharted highlands and confront savage tribes on a quest for family honour when The Eagle is released on DVD and Blu-ray from 25th July 2011.

Channing Tatum (G.I. Joe, Step Up) seeks to restore his family honour in the barren wastelands North of Hadrian’s wall, a name tarnished by his father’s failure in the same desolate reach of Scotland years ago.

Aided by an unlikely companion, a slave named Esca (Jamie Bell - King Kong, Billy Elliot), Marcus seeks to retrieve his father’s legion’s lost emblem - The Eagle of the Ninth.

Director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, State of Play) has created another epic movie, composing stunning scenery with striking performances from the leading men, who lead us back to 140 AD Roman ruled Britain.

Though his name is tainted by his father’s mysterious disappearance, Marcus possesses a natural leadership quality and quickly commands the respect of his own legion, saving them from a brutal attack.

In doing so he is injured badly and is honourably discharged from the military. Frustrated by his early retirement, Marcus takes it upon himself to embark on the ultimate quest for honour, to find The Eagle.

His only ally is tough young slave Esca, who owes his life to Marcus’s sense of compassion.

With Bone crushing action and blood chilling scenes of survival, The Eagle takes audiences into the heart of Roman Britain, and allows them to experience the brutal yet heroic battle for themselves.

The Blu-ray version of the film features an exclusive 45 minute ‘making of’ featurette, whilst the DVD includes additional extras and deleted scenes, bringing Roman ruled Britain directly into your living room this summer.

The Eagle is a gritty tale of a blood spattered history when the reputation of your family was something worth dying for. Watch it on Blu-ray and DVD from 25th July.
