South African born singer songwriter Candice is all set to release her debut single entitled ‘Hello’ on August 31st. Candice has spent the past year writing and recording songs for her forthcoming album in a number of different UK and US studios, and has recently completed a string of acoustic shows across London debuting new material. 'Hello' is a cleverly crafted slice of guitar pop, but don't let the perky title, radio friendly guitar licks or Candice's insanely catchy barrage of upbeat, distinctive vocal hooks fool you. The song may find it way onto many a summer sountrack but it's as deceptive as the hall-of-mirrors world of fame and imposed celebrity status many of today’s stars try to avoid. "It's so easy to assume that some people have picture perfect lives," Candice explains, "but this is a song that admits things aren't always as they seem." As it happens, behind closed doors the song's "luckiest girl in the world" dwells in an aimless world of solitude and despair: "There's nothing that's real, there's nothing she can touch / She's making a plan but it slips through her hands, it splinters and shatters and bursts". Having already had success in her home country and known that feeling of being in the public eye, Candice now has her sights firmly set on the UK music scene. And with enough songs in her armoury to make most of today’s ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ artists green with envy, she’s certainly ready to say ‘Hello’ - it is me your looking for!Candice releases ‘Hello’ on May 31st 2004 through Sony Music UK
