Molina Bemused By Da Vinci Code Uproar The Da Vinci Code Star Alfred Molina is baffled by the Catholic Church's continued protests against the movie, insisting their actions are simply publicising the controversial adaptation. The movie, which is based on Dan Brown's multi-million-selling novel of the same name, has sparked fury among Catholic groups across the world because its plotline suggests Jesus Christ fathered a child with biblical figure Mary Magdalene - and their bloodline exists to this day. However, Molina insists film-maker Ron Howard only wants to entertain an audience. He says, "You think that religious leaders would know by now that when you say, 'Don't see that film,' it just makes everyone want to. "Ultimately, the book is a piece of fiction, as is the movie.
