Police in New Jersey have arrested one man in connection with the hit-and-run death of a former American Idol contestant at the weekend.

Wannabe singer Alexis Cohen, who auditioned for the TV talent show in 2008, was killed on Saturday morning (25Jul09) when she was struck by a car in Seaside Heights.

An autopsy conducted by the office of the Ocean County Medical Examiner showed the 25 year old died from multiple traumatic chest and abdominal injuries and a closed head injury.

Cops arrested 23-year-old Daniel Bark on Sunday (26Jul09) and booked him on charges of death by reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

His bail has been set at $35,000 (£23,335) and Bark faces up to 15 years behind bars for the alleged crime.
