Andrew Lloyd Webber believes it was his prostate cancer to blame for the flop of his Phantom of the Opera sequel, Love Never Dies.

Often described as the worlds greatest composer, Lloyd Webber released the production in Spring 2011 but it recieved bad reviews and was shut down in November '10.

The musical was renamed by many critics 'Paint Never Dries'.

The 3-time Tony Award winner said: "I had a unique issue because I got cancer in the middle of all of it.

With hindsight, we should have said, 'Let's put the whole thing on hold until I'm 100 per cent again'."

Following the termination of the show, it has undergone a major revamp and is now open in Australia where it is recieving more positive reviews.

Sir Lloyd Webber still believes there is more to come of the musical and said: "There is no question that this [new] production cannot be improved upon.

"It's fabulous to look at and they completely understand what I'm trying to get at with the score. It has a momentum that is wonderful."

Love Never Dies will be available on Broadway once its production in Australia is complete.
