Andy Serkis is working in a biopic of late rocker Ian Dury.
The 'Lord of the Rings' star is set to start shooting the movie following the life of the punk legend - who died of liver cancer in March 2000 aged 57 - in April and admits he can't wait to begin work.
He sort of pre-empted the Sex Pistols and the whole punk movement
Andy told Cinema Blend: "I'm actually doing a film about the life of Ian Dury, who's a proto-punk rocker in the 1970s. He's an amazing character, a real poet.
"He sort of came up out of the British pub rock scene. He sort of pre-empted the Sex Pistols and the whole punk movement. And he was a polio sufferer, so he basically didn't have much use of his left leg or his left arm. He was one of the first disabled punk rockers ever. I'm really looking forward to that."
During his career, Ian released 12 studio albums, including five with his group The Blockheads.
Andy has several projects ahead this year.
As well as portraying the rocker in the untitled movie, he will also reprise his 'Lord of the Rings' role of Gollum in 'The Hobbit' and has been cast as Captain Haddock in 'TinTin'.

Excellent choice for the lead role but it's a shame they dropped the idea of punk band Unlucky Fried Kitten doing the music. Would've been ideal. Can't wait to see it though. Fantastic news
