Arctic Monkeys Defend Cash Sell-Out

14-04-2006 09:15

Arctic Monkeys Defend Money-spinning Ep.

Indie rockers ARCTIC MONKEYS defend their decision to "cash-in" on the success of their debut album with the release of a follow-up EP next week (24APR06) by insisting they don't care what people think about them.

The four-piece, whose album WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY I AM THAT'S WHAT I'M NOT became the fastest-selling debut in UK chart history earlier this year (06), are set to create another media frenzy when fans rush out to by their new record.

And frontman ALEX TURNER, who premiered new tracks from WHO THE F**K ARE ARCTIC MONKEYS? during their recent US tour, has dismissed suggestions the band is being over marketed.

Turner says, "It's a mission statement, if you like.

"We want to do things our way, and people think it's arrogance, so it's inevitable some people will get tired of us.
