Avril Lavigne has been branded "too sexy" by an Islamic youth group who want a planned concert in Malaysia to be cancelled.
The youth wing of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said the 'Sk8er Boi' singer's stage show would promote the wrong values and have urged government officials to scrap the show.
A party spokesperson said: "We don't want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models."
Avril is de to begin a month-long Asian tour next Thursday (29.08.08) in Kuala Lumpur. However, an official at the Culture Ministry has confirmed that the concert has yet to be given the go-ahead.
All concerts that take place in Malaysia must adhere to strict guidelines which are imposed to uphold the values of the Muslim religion.
Last year, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani was forced to tone down her raunchy costumes during a concert in the country after student protesters publicly opposed her being allowed to perform.
